David Bednar's talk discussed the connection between technology and the progression of the church. It was inspiring to hear the message and the clips of past prophets also speaking on the subject. However, it was not the first time I had heard those ideas presented. During my first semester at BYU I took a Book of Mormon class. One day, my teacher expressed his testimony that technological advances are made to specifically help the church move forward. With his testimony my teacher showed us a timeline of technological advances and how they related to the church. I was immediately able to connect with this idea. During the great apostasy the world made small advances; however, just a little before Joseph Smith was born the world exploded into new thought and ideas which made possible the restoration.

I came home with a new excitement about God's plan and was excited to share these ideas with my roommate. After presenting my lesson my roommate shrugged her shoulders and expressed her thoughts on the matter, "Hayley, I think you are looking too much into this".

It is my belief that God created this world and all of the people in it. As the world needs better technologies God presents ways for man to discover them. It may be difficult at times to see a connection between something like the creation of the internet and missionary work but the relationships exists. Whether people choose to acknowledge these relationships is their decision.
